17 years old man arrested and awaiting trial for the murder of a Thomaston cab driver
Brandy Turner Guined was murdered as the result of a robbery gone wrong, according to her sister Dawn Popple. Brandy had been in a car accident and was also shot in the process, the family would later find out. Her killer, according to Dawn, was 17 years old and is awaiting trial.
Brandy was laid to rest the day after Christmas. Her sister said she learned many things about Brandy that day.
“Many people told me that she had given them a ride in the cab on her dime,” said Dawn. “What sticks with me most is everyone telling me how much they loved Brandy and her smile.
“So many people said that it didn’t matter if Brandy was having a bad day that she still smiled and it made their day better.”
Born on October 12, 1978, Brandy was 22 months older than Dawn. She said her sister “never met a stranger.” Dawn said her sister had an ability to make anyone she met feel loved. Her sister always had a smile on her face.
Brandy worked for a cab company in their town. Dawn said Brandy loved driving her cab. She also said her sister made it a point to be there for her family. At 2 a.m., when Brandy would get off work, she would call her sister and their mother.
“She told me she called our mom that late because she could get her undivided attention,” said Dawn. Dawn said she credits those late night phone calls as the source of the strong bond her sister had with their family.
Dawn wrote the following about her sister:
“The one thing I want everyone to see when they Brandy’s picture is that wonderful smile and how happy she was. My statement is as always FLY HIGH BRANDY & SPREAD THOSE BEAUTIFUL WINGS & I LOVE YOU BIG SIS!!!”
Brandy is survived by her husband and her Daughter Dale.
