New York, USA — Police arrested a 32-year-old Uber driver following a sexually-motivated kidnapping of a 15-year-old girl.
According to reports, Sean Williams allegedly picked up the young lady from a Sweet 16 party. They were supposed to go to Merrick, however, the driver drove to Brooklyn instead.
Furthermore, Mr. Williams tried to convince the girl to go drinking with him back in his home. Prosecutors claim that the driver planned to “sexually assault” her once they arrive at his house.
The teen repeatedly asked Mr. Williams to take her to her home, but he kept driving West.
Fortunately, the girl managed to escape her abductor by telling him she had to use the bathroom. When he pulled over, she immediately ran to a nearby McDonald’s and called police.
Four days later, authorities arrested Mr. Williams outside his Brooklyn home. He will be facing multiple crimes including kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, and kidnapping as a sexually motivated felony.
“The family of a 15-year old girl relied on a car service to get their daughter home safely,” Attorney Madeline Singas said. “The girl was terrorized by the defendant’s alleged behavior and bravely took action to contact police and free herself.”
An Uber spokesperson claims the driver is no longer able to access the app and the company is willing to cooperate in the investigation.
Mr. William’s defense attorney, Steven Gaitman, says that his client is “adamantly denying the charges.”
“I think there’s another side of the story,” Mr. Gaitman said.
