Edinburgh, Scotland — Witnesses took pictures of a taxicab that burst into flames on Straiton Road, near the Edinburgh City Bypass.
Passersby then called for an emergency. Firefighters responded immediately to extinguish the fire at around 1:30 p.m.
Furthermore, authorities closed off Straiton Road for several hours. Police officials diverted traffic to the adjacent lane. Emergency responders used a high-pressure hose reel to put the fire out.
Photos shared all over social media showed the taxicab engulfed in flames and a plume of smoke from the wreckage.
Moreover, the driver was not injured and the cause of the incident is still under investigation.
One eyewitness wrote: “Was full-on when I went past fire engine was just arriving, luckily the driver was out.”
