Taxi drivers turn into a disinfection squad in Colombia

Bogota, Colombia – A three-people disinfection squad was pulling cars and motorists in the streets of Bogota on Tuesday to spray their vehicles with an alcohol-based solution.

Taxi drivers have found themselves struggling to get clients as the restrictions aimed to reduce the coronavirus spread were imposed in Colombia in past March.

Public transportation remains open in Bogota, and buses are under a strict cleaning regimen and social distancing rules that must be observed by commuters.

It’s not the same for taxis, which by the most part are owned by the drivers. Mary Luz Hernandez and her spouse, taxi driver Pablo Villalobos, thought it as an opportunity to make some money. Villalobos said that they would set to work with just spray and alcohol.
