Taxi driver held at gunpoint after telling the passenger his fare (Kansas, USA)

Kansas, USA — A man pulled a gun on a taxi driver after he was told how much he owed for the trip, according to reports.

The driver allegedly picked the man up near SW Sunset Drive in Blue Springs and drove him to 112th Terrace and Hickman Mills Drive in Kansas City.

During the ride, the man asked the driver to pull into a driveway next to Bo’s Discount Bail Bonds.

As soon as they arrived, the driver told the suspect how much the trip cost him. However, the man refused and got upset. According to police, refusal to pay a taxi fare is considered robbery.

Video evidence of the incident shows the taxi driver outside of the cab while talking on his phone. As the driver approached the back door, the passenger pulls out a handgun.

The robber told the driver to stop moving while pointing his gun through the car window. Fortunately, the cab driver was able to inform the person on the other end of the line about his current situation.

The man then ran out of the car heading eastbound.

The suspect is described as a white male about 30 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 175 pounds. He has tattoos on his forearms.

If you have any information about the incident, please call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477). An anonymous cash reward is available.
