Over 46lbs of marijuana found in an Uber vehicle (Arizona, USA)

Mohave, Arizona — Around 47.6lbs of marijuana were found in an Uber vehicle during a traffic stop on I-40.

The Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (M.A.G.N.E.T.) arrested the four passengers in the vehicle. According to reports, they were intending to travel from Barstow, CA to Kingman, AZ.

As stated in an official press release, M.A.G.N.E.T. participated in a multi-agency drug interdiction detail on the Interstate 40 on Thursday night. 

During the traffic stop, investigators discovered two large bags filled with marijuana at the trunk of the Uber car. Police also located a handgun in the vehicle.

Moreover, the Uber driver denies knowing about the marijuana in his car. Authorities did not arrest the driver.

The passengers were Ramon Antonio Lara Payano, 29, Lino Derek Velez, 27, Edgardo Xavier Nunez, 30, and Roger Mauricio Franco Ramirez, 21. All four will be facing charges for trafficking in marijuana, marijuana for sale and misconduct involving weapons.

Furthermore, they are currently in custody of the Mohave County Jail in Kingman.
