Man kills cab driver in robbery attempt, then left bloody clothes outside his home

Missouri, USA — Police found 47-year-old cab driver Richard Lilie Jr. with a gunshot wound in the 10100 block of Bon Oak Drive around 1:50 a.m.

During the investigation, authorities learned that Mr. Lilie was driving for St. Louis County Cab. Hence, they notified the taxi company about the incident and asked more information about his most recent call.

His body was dumped in the Castle Point area about a block away from where he picked up his customer

According to reports, the victim’s cab was last traced at 100 block of Taney Drive in Florissant by its GPS. When police arrived at the location, 40-year-old Antouine Redmon was going through items in the trunk.

Furthermore, detectives revealed that the cab’s last call for service was Redmon’s address. When the police visited his house, they found a bag containing bloody clothes and gloves next to the home.

Mr. Lilie’s DNA was found on the clothes and Redmon’s DNA on the inside of the gloves.

The suspect admitted to killing the driver over a robbery attempt to police.

“I am also torn and angry someone would do this over money,” said Lilie’s daughter Heather.

Mr. Lilie’s sister described him as a giving person who loved to help others.

“I am so angry at this person with what this person took away from us,” said Kim Fogle, Lilie’s sister. “This person has no clue. No clue at all what he did.”

The St. Louis County Cab Co. president, Basil Rudawsky, issued a statement:

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident and our hearts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. We are doing everything we can to assist police with the investigation.”

The suspect is now facing first-degree murder charge and armed criminal action.
