Gay couple kicked out by Uber driver for ‘being gay’

New Jersey, USA — A video of an Uber driver went viral online after kicking out a gay couple for simply ‘being gay’.

New Jersey couple Kristin Michele and Jenn Mangan were on their way to the Zac Brown Concert Friday night. Furthermore, the couple decided to take an Uber ride from Oaklyn to the concert.

During the ride, Kris leaned over and planted a kiss on Jenn’s cheek, according to reports.

However, their Uber driver did not seem to be so happy about it. The lady then immediately told the women to get out of the car, claiming “I can’t ride with that. You kissed her – I won’t have that.”

Kristin took out her phone to record the incident. In the video, the driver can be seen slapping the phone out of Kristin’s hand.

“Are you kicking me out because I’m gay?” Kristin asks in the video.

“Yes, I am. Yes. Get out,” The driver responded.

Moreover, the driver claimed to be a Christian woman and “didn’t believe in that.”

The Uber driver then threatened to call the authorities, which Kristin encouraged, but the driver never did.

“Eventually it was obvious this wasn’t getting resolved, so I just got out of the car,” Kristin said.

The couple was forced to walk about half a mile back home to Oaklyn. Then they took a 15-minute train ride to the concert.

Kristin said she already reported the driver to Uber, and spoke with Uber about the incident.

Meanwhile, the video went viral in less than 24 hours. By Saturday at noon, the video had more than 9,000 views and 113 shares.

Uber has not left any statements regarding the incident.
